MENOMONIE (April 8, 2015) - A young UW-Stout softball team stayed in the game early, but a key mistake here, and another there and UW-Eau Claire went past the Blue Devils, taking both games, 5-2, 12-0, Wednesday at Alumni Field.

Eau Claire (13-11, 4-0 WIAC) held a 1-0 lead in game one heading into the sixth inning, but the Blugolds struck for four runs in their half of the inning, keyed by Sam Noetzelman's two run home run.

Stout did get on the board in the bottom half of the inning.Karley Wiensch scored on Nicole Rogers' single and Taylor Workman hit a ground rule double to score Rogers.

Tori Workman took the loss, scattering six hits and two earned runs. She increased her league-leading strikeout totals with six punch-outs. The Blugolds' Zana Lorbetske recorded nine strikeouts.

Stout kept Eau Claire off the board through the first two innings of game two, but a two out infield error allowed two runs to score in the third. Eau Claire added two more in the fourth, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and opened the floodgates with a five run seventh.

In the opener, Stout was out-hit, 6-3, and in the second game, 14-4. Stout had more errors (five) than they had hits in the nightcap.

Stout stays in conference play this weekend when they travel to UW-La Crosse, Saturday, April 11 and to UW-Platteville, Sunday, April 12.
