UW-Stout 6, Bethany Lutheran College 3MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (February 21, 2015) - The UW-Stout tennis team opened the spring season by bouncing back and taking a win over Bethany Lutheran College at the University of Minnesota Baseline Center Saturday.
Only days after scheduling the matches, Stout opened with a 9-0 loss to Hamline University, then came back for a 6-3 win over Bethany. Stout swept the doubles portion of the match.
Emma Pedersen (So, Eau Claire) and
Angela Braun (Jr, Brookfield) captured an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.
Danielle Lutz (So, Maple Grove, Minn) and
Jenna Welke (Fr, Chippewa Falls) swept through No. 2 doubles, 8-0, and
Makenzie Williams (So, Schofield) and
Sutton Beck (Fr, Franklin) took an 8-4 win at No. 3.
Pedersen, playing in her first collegiate match at No. 1 singles, defeated Morgan Schwarz, 7-5, 6-3.
Brianna Buhl (Fr, Marquette, Mich) captured a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 4 singles and Beck went three sets for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 win at No. 5 singles.
Stout started the day with a 9-0 loss to Hamline. Braun lost in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6, at No. 1 singles.
Stout's next scheduled meet is Wednesday, April 8 when they travel to St. Mary's University.
