Archived VideoMENOMONIE (December 8, 2015) - The Milwaukee School of Engineering's Michael Romund scored with .7 seconds left in the game to give the Raiders a 3-2 win over UW-Stout Tuesday at the Fanetti Community Center.
The game looked like it might be heading for overtime after the Blue Devils'
Tom Schmidt scored on a power play goal with less than five minutes left to play to tie the score at 2-2. But the Raiders (5-3-0) attacked the zone in the final 40 seconds and Romund skated around the top of the circle and took the shot with a crowd in front of the net, beating Blue Devils' goalie
Chase Hollander.
The Blue Devils (4-4-2) got on the board first when
Joe Kleven scored his first goal of the season, scoring only 1-minute, 15-seconds into the game, getting an assist from fellow freshman Schmidt.
The Raiders tied the score at 5:17 of the first period on a goal by Cody Ganchart, then went ahead at 8:33 of the second period on a goal by James Ring. Schmidt tied the score at 15:35 of the third, with assists from Kleven and
Joe Anderson.
Hollander finished the night with 20 saves, as Stout outshot the Raiders, 29-23. MSOE's Nick Kohn recorded 27 saves.
Stout will host Concordia-Moorhead, Friday, Dec. 11 and will wrap up first semester play Saturday, Dec. 12 when they host St. Olaf College.
