Archived VideoMENOMONIE (December 4, 2015) - What a difference a day makes! One night after getting shut out in a big way, UW-Stout found their offensive firepower and got a solid effort in the goal to take a 6-2 win over UW-Superior Friday at the Fanetti Community Center.
The Blue Devils (4-3-2, 1-1-0 WIAC) picked up their first conference win of the season, getting six goals from six different players and, defensively, goalie
Chase Hollander (Jr, Port Washington) turned away 24 shots while giving up two early goals.
Stout needed only four minutes to wipe away some of the feeling from a 7-0 loss the night before when
Danny Ray (Sr, Grand Forks, ND) scored on the power play, getting assists from
Riley Colvard (Jr, Centerville, Minn) and
Justin Moody (Jr, Grand Forks, ND).
The Yellowjackets (3-5-2, 0-1-0 WIAC) knotted the score with 35 seconds left in the first period, then took the lead on a power play goal by Eric Shand six minutes into the second stanza.
But Stout had a answer when Moody scored 27 seconds later on the power play to tie the score a 2 apiece. Shane McLaughlin (Jr, Eau claire) gave Stout the lead for good with a goal at 12:13 of the second.
Stout scored three goals in the third period, all even strength.
Craig Lindegard (Jr, Hallock, Minn) scored at 7:24,
Karl Andersen (Jr, Eau Claire) gave Stout a 5-2 lead at 14:39 and 20 seconds later,
Jake Useldinger (Sr, East Grand Forks, Minn) put the game on ice.
Moody finished the night with a goal and three assists. Useldinger and Colvard each had two assists.
Cole Dunphy (Fr, Sturgeon County, Minn), Lindegard,
Joe Kleven (Fr, Shakopee, Minn) and Ray each tallied an assist.
Hollander was steady throughout the game, recording eight saves in the first, nine in the second and seven in the third.
Stout will host the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Tuesday, Dec. 8, then will host Concordia-Moorhead, Friday, Dec. 11 and St. Olaf College, Saturday, Dec. 12.
