Blue Devils blow past St. Scholastica, take 87-63 decision

DULUTH, Minn. (December 15, 2015) - UW-Stout jumped out to a big lead early running out to a 26-9 lead in the first quarter and the Blue Devils went on to an 87-63 win at St. Scholastica Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (4-4) not only scored a season-best 87 points, shooting 54.3 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 47-27 halftime lead, Stout's defense was running on all cylinders and the full court pressure forced 27 turnovers.

Kyleigh Hebert and Sarah Schoch each scored eight first half points, and Kyncaide Diedrich added seven first half points.

Stout several times held a 30 point lead in the third quarter, and built as much as a 3 2point lead in the fourth quarter. The Saints (3-8) only got as close as 21 points in the game.

Nicole Schaub led Stout with a collegiate-best 15 points, connecting on all four of her 3-point attempts. Schoch drained two 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Hebert added 13 points. Schoch collected five steals and Hebert had four.

The Saints' Michala Walther scored a game-best 17 points. Brittani Brennan had 14 points. Holly VanKempen notched a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Stout is off until they travel to Nashville, Tenn., to compete in the Music City Classic. The Blue Devils will play Penn State-Behrend, Tuesday, Dec. 29 and Hamilton College, Wednesday, Dec. 30.
