MENOMONIE (October 9, 2015) - UW-Stout took two of three doubles matches, including a 1-hour, 20-minute come- from- behind win at No. 2 doubles, but UW-Stevens Point captured four of six singles matches to win 5-4 Friday at the South Tennis Courts.
The loss put an end to the Blue Devils' (4-4, 1-2 WIAC) winning streak at three games.
Stout had momentum going into the singles matches after the No. 2 doubles team of
Anna Lano (Sr, Chaska, Minn) and
Linsey Thisius (Fr, Wells, Minn) came back for a 7-4 deficit and forced a tie-breaker, winning the marathon event, 9-8 (10-8), over Katelyn Asfeld and Kaylee Roberts.
The No. 3 doubles team of
Danielle Lutz (Sr, Maple Grove, Minn) and Pedersen (Sr, Lake Elmo, Minn) defeated the Pointers' Frances Weiss and Jordan Tyjeski, 8-2.
The Pointers (4-7, 1-3 WIAC) captured the first four singles matches. Stout got singles wins from
Jenna Welke at No. 5, 6-4, 6-4, and
Katie Kreibich (Fr, Woodbury, Minn) at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.
Stout will close out the home portion of their schedule Saturday, Oct. 10 when they face UW-La Crose at 3 p.m.
