Archived VideoMENOMONIE (October 24, 2015) - In their fourth home game of the season, the Blue Devils found themselves in another shootout. UW-Stout fell to the Falcons of River Falls 54-48 after a fourth quarter comeback came up just short
Stout continued their season trend of throwing the ball.
Hank Kujak had his fourth 300-yard-game of the season, throwing for a total of 357 yards on 49 attempts. Kujak also recorded his second consecutive game in which he threw five touchdowns passes and ran for another for the Blue Devils.
The first half was filled with scoring. Kujak connected with
Brian Alvarez on a 35-yard touchdown pass to put the Blue Devils on top 7-6. The Falcons quickly responded in the second quarter on a four yard run from Tony Denn. The Falcons increased their lead in the second half with three straight scores, and ended the half up 34-28.
The second half was much slower. The Blue Devils found themselves down 47-28 with 9-minutes and 54-seconds left. To counter this, Kujak found the end zone on a seven yard run. The Falcons up 54-35 early in the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils scored on a 33-yard pass from Kujak to
Jordan Dabney. Following this, Stout recovered an onside kick and scored once more on a one-yard pass from
Hank Kujak to
Reggie Kujak. This would bring the Blue Devils close, but they fell short 54-48.
Chris Pica-Anderson had a career day for the Blue Devils catching seven balls for 126 yards. Alvarez also had a great game catching the ball, going for 6 receptions on 114 yards.
Falcons quarterback Ryan Kusilek threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns. River Falls' running back Toure Wallace ran for 93 yards and two touchdowns.Â
The Blue Devils will play UW-Platteville on October 31. at 2 p.m.
