Coe College 3, UW-Stout 1CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (October 23, 2015) - Host Coe College defeated UW-Stout 25-23, 24-26, 28-26, 25-20 on the first night of the Coe College Mabel Lee Invitational Friday.
All of the matches were close and two were taken into extra play. In the second match, Stout (14-15) trailed 22-20, but charged back to take a 26-24 win.
Steph Cannon (Fr, Mora, Minn) continued to step up. Over the last eight matches, Cannon has finished in double digit kills and tonight pounded out a career-best 19 kills to lead all scorers.
Kennedy Strain (Fr, Elk River, Minn) added 13 kills and
Ashley Pratt (So, Lakeville, Minn) 12 kills. Strain also had two solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
Emily Bialka (Fr, Cottage Grove, Minn) matched a career-high with 47 assists.
For Coe (18-11), Lauren Himan led the Kohawks with 17 kills. Olivia Leisinger contributed 14 and Lindsey Koch 11.
Stout will play the University of Dubuque and Luther College on the final day of the invite.
