CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (October 24, 2015) - UW-Stout grabbed two wins in the second day of the Coe College Mable Lee Invitational, beating University of Dubuque and Luther College.
The Blue Devils fought hard in all ten matches they played Saturday. They found themselves down after the first match against Dubuque, but won two straight going 25-20 and 25-19 in the next two matches. They finished off the Spartans 15-11 in the deciding match.
Steph Cannon (Fr, Mora, Minn) had 15 kills to lead Stout and
Ashley Pratt (So, Lakeville, Minn) added 12.
Almost the same result followed in their game against Luther College. After losing the first match 22-25, they came back and won the next two matches 25-16 and 25-22. The final match had the same results; the Blue Devils found themselves victorious over the Norse 15-11.
Carly Troudt pounded down 11 kills while Cannon,
Rachel Tschumperlin and
Olivia Jung each recorded nine kills.
Payton Schultz was named to the all-tournament team. Schultz had 15 digs against Coe, 33 against Dubuque and 25 against Luther.
Stout will travel to UW-Stevens Point Friday October 30 and will immediately head to UW-Oshkosh Oct. 31 for their final game of the season against the Titans.
