Hollander records first career shutout, Stout downs Superior, 2-0

MENOMONIE (January 16, 2015) - Chase Hollander (So, Random Lake) punched away all 37 shots he faced and picked up his first career shutout as UW-Stout defeated UW-Superior, 2-0, to earn the Blue Devils their first conference win of the season.

The sophomore goalkeeper knocked away nine shots in the first period, 13 in the second and 15 in the third as he also recorded his first win of the season in six appearances and three starts.

The Blue Devils (4-8-1, 1-2-0 WIAC) got on the board first when Justin Moody (So, Grand Forks, ND) scored at 6:10 of the second period, with assists by Tyler Cayemberg (So, East Troy) and Jordan Stejskal (Fr, Cohasset, Minn). The goal was Moody's seventh of the season.

Stout doubled their lead in the third stanza when Derek Sand (So, West Fargo, ND) notched his first goal of the season at 6:54, getting assists from Craig Lindegard (So, Hallock, Minn) and Joey Haydock (So, Junction City).

Zach Thompson turned away 25 shots for the Yellowjackets (7-9-0, 0-3-0 WIAC).

The two teams will tangle again Saturday, Jan. 17, this time in Superior at 7 p.m.
