Blue Devil tennis takes both matches at Ripon College

UW-Stout 6, Alverno College 3 | UW-Stout 8, Ripon College 1

RIPON (September 27, 2014) -  It was a rippin' good day as UW-Stout picked up a pair of team wins as the Blue Devil double teams won all of their matches and Stout defeated Alverno College, 6-3, and host Ripon College, 8-1, Saturday at Larson Courts.

Angela Braun (Jr, Brookfield) and Cortney Hallahan (Sr, Lester Prairie, Minn) captured both No. 1 doubles spots, downing the Alverno squad 8-3 and the Ripon pair, 8-1.

Anna Lano (Jr, Chaska, Minn), Emma Pedersen (So, Eau Claire), Kelsey Pedersen (So, Lake Elmo, Minn), Jenna Welke (Fr, Chippewa Falls), and Danielle Lutz (So, Maple Grove, Minn) mixed it up to win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

Against Alverno, Lano and Emma Pedersen combined to win, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles and Kelsey Pedersen and Lutz paired at No. 3 doubles to win 8-4. Against Ripon, Lutz and Lano played to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles and Kelsey Pedersen and Welke took No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

In singles, Kelsey Pedersen (No. 3, 6-0, 6-3), Lutz (No. 4, 6-0, 6-3) and Lano (No. 5, 6-2, 6-1) got wins against Alverno.

Against Ripon, Hallahan (No. 2, 7-5, 6-4), Emma Pedersen (No. 3, 6-2, 6-2), Kelsey Pedersen (No. 4, 6-0, 6-2), Lutz (No. 5, 6-0, 6-0) and Lano (No. 6, 6-0, 6-0) captured singles wins.

Lano, Kelsey Pedersen and Lutz all played a hand in four wins today.

The Blue Devils will host Bethel College, Tuesday, Sept. 30 and UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Oct. 4.
