Hamline jumps out in front of Blue Devils early

| Hamline University 4, UW-Stout 2

ST. PAUL, Minn (November 7, 2014) - Hamline University jumped out to a quick lead, built on it, then held off UW-Stout as the Pipers downed the Blue Devils, 4-2, Friday at Oscar Johnson Arena.

The Pipers (2-1-0) wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, tallying a goal by Kevin Nokacovich only 1-minute, 9-seconds into the game. The Pipers built up a 3-0 lead, getting a second goal at 14:35 of the first period and another at 1:07 of the second period before the Blue Devils would turn the scoreboard.

Using two power play situations, the Blue Devils (0-2-0) got on the board at 19:08 of the second period when Craig Lindegard scored, with assists by Justin Moody and Patrick Regan.

Stout made a  game of it early in the third period when Tyler Cayemberg scored unassisted at 4:26 of the third period to pull to within 3-2.

The Pipers got enough cushion at 19:13 on an even strength goal by Brandon Zurn for the final 4-2 margin.

Chase Hollander started for the Blue Devils and took the loss, allowing the first three goals. Hollander turned away 12 shots before giving way to Spencer Viele (So, Wildwood, Mo) who gave up the final goal and stopped 10 shots. The Pipers' John Sellie-Hanson had 22 saves.

Stout will be at Gustavus Adolphus, Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
