Blue Devils grab second consecutive win, down Lawrence 2-1

MENOMONIE (November 22, 2014) - UW-Stout held off an extra attacker for the final 1-minute, 33-seconds after Lawrence University pulled their goalie to preserve a 2-1 win over the Vikings and win their second consecutive game of the season Saturday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

With the score tied at 1-1 heading into the third period, the Blue Devils' Justin Moody (So, Grand Forks, N.D.) scored his third goal of the season to put Stout ahead 2-1 at 1:24 of the final period. Moody got assists from Craig Lindegard (So, Hallock, Minn) and Jake Useldinger (Jr, East Grand Forks, Minn).

Stout (2-5-0) had to ride out two penalties in the final stanza, as well as killing the closing minutes going 6-on-5.

The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the game, getting a power play goal by Tyler Cayemberg (So, East Troy) with two seconds remaining in the first period, on assists by Danny Ray (Jr, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Jordan Tredinnick (Sr, Onalaska).

The Vikings(4-4-0) tied the score with less than two minutes left in the second period when Matt Moore scored.

Spencer Viele (So, Wildwood, Mo) kicked aside 30 shots, while Lawrence's Anton Olsson had 25 saves.

Stout will be at Northland College, Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. Stout will then turn it's attention to conference play after Thanksgiving, traveling to UW-River Falls, Thursday, Dec. 4 and to UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Dec. 6.
