Jarvis Ragland (Sr, Milwaukee) matched a career-high and teamed with
D'Marcco Patrick(Fr, Kenosha) and
Brett Ahsenmacher (So, Annandale, Minn) to provide the bulk of the offense, but UW-Stout was defeated by Coe College, 84-70, at the Gabe Miller Tip-Off Classic at UW-Platteville Sunday.
Ragland scored 21 points, matching his career-best from 2011. Patrick, a freshman, an Ashsenmacher, a sophomore, each scored 15 points as the trio combined for 51 points.
Free throws attempts were plentiful today, and Stout (0-2) knocked down 28-of-39, while Coe (1-1) sank 16-of-25 from the charity stripe. Ragland was 9-of-10 from the line, while Patrick was 7-of-9 and Ashsenmacher 5-of-7.
Coe got 20 points from Jacob Timm, who hit all five of his free throw attempts. The Kohawks got 14 points from JT Vanderhaar, and 13 points each from Matt Daoust and Max Schmarzo.
The Blue Devils were outrebounded, 40-32. Stout shot 18-of-53 from the field (34.0 percent), compared to 30-of-58 (51.7 percent) for Coe. Stout put down 6-of-26 3-pointers, and the Kohawks were 8-of-20 from downtown.
Stout returns to action Wednesday, Nov. 19, when they travel to Viterbo University.
