Archived VideoMENOMONIE (November 14, 2014) - UW-Stout scored three third period goals, but it wouldn't be enough as Augsburg College scored four in the final stanza and took a 7-3 home-opening win from the Blue Devils Friday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
Augsburg (4-1-0) looked like they were going to run away with the game, jumping out to a 3-0 lead with two goals in the first and another goal in the second. The Auggies outshot Stout in the second period 22-3.
Stout (0-4-0) broke up the shutout early in the third period when
Patrick Regan (Sr, Edina, Minn) found the back of the net with an assist from
Jake Useldinger (Jr, East Grand Forks, Minn).
But the Auggies assumed control, rolling off four consecutive goals through the rest of the period. Stout took advantage of a couple of Augsburg penalties.
Danny Ray (Jr, Grand Forks, ND) scored on a 5-on-3 at 15:32,with assists by
Joey Haydock (So, Junction City) and
Jordan Tredinnick (Sr, Onlaska). Two minutes later, Matt Mllis (Sr, Black River Falls) scored on the power play with an assist by Tredinnick. Regan, Ray and Millis all scored their first goals of the season.
Augsburg outshot Stout 46-21 on the evening. The Auggies got two goals from Drew Anderson and Ben McClellan, who scored back-to-back goals in the third period.
Stout will host St. Thomas, Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature a live band between the second and third periods, and again after the game to mark the renovation project at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
