MENOMONIE (October 22, 2014) - Lauren Kizlik (So, Hammond) recorded her first career hat trick as UW-Stout roared past Gustavus Adolphus, 6-2, on a wet and windy night at Nelson Field. Kizlik took six total shots on the night, missing on her first three before sending the next three into the back of the net.

The last time a Blue Devil player scored three goals in a game was when Jessica Price accomplished the feat on Oct. 30, 2010 against UW-Superior. Kizlik's goals came in the 27th, 57th and 59th minutes of the game. Kelly Conn (So, Menasha) assisted on Kizlik's first and third goals, while her sister Jenna Kizlik (Jr, Hammond) assisted on the one in-between.

Stout (4-8-3, 2-3-1 WIAC) got on the board quickly, as Conn sent a penalty kick just over the outstretched arms of Gustavus goalie Roisen Granlund only six minutes into the match. Lauren Kizlik would score the next three goals for the Blue Devils before Nikki Sedivy (Fr, Medford, Minn.) scored off an assist by Christina Block (Jr, Rochester, Minn.) to push Stout's lead to 5-0.

The Gusties (1-11-3, 0-6-2 MIAC) would get a goal back, as Laura Johnson was able to capitolize on a second chance oppurtunity after a deflection by Blue Devil goalie Paige Meyer (Jr, Beldenville). Johnson fielded the rebound and sent it home after Meyer went to the ground making the intitial save, cutting Stout's lead to 5-1.

Meyer earned the win for Stout, improving to 3-8-2 on the season. She saved three shots on the night before being replaced by Kristi Schurhammer (Jr, Plainview, Minn.) in the 73rd minute.

Each team added another goal in the final five minutes of the match, as Bethany Hanson (Fr, Coon Rapids, Minn.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 86th minute to make it 6-1 in favor of the Blue Devils. Valerie Belanger of the Gusties then put the ball just past Shurhammer in the 90th minute off an assist by Johnson for the final score of 6-2. It was the first goal allowed this season by Shurhammer.

As a team, Stout took 12 total shots, with eight of them being on goal. Gustavus took seven shots, with five of them on goal. Granlund had two saves for the Gusties.

The Blue Devils will close out the regular season with a pair of conference road games next week, traveling to UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Oct. 29 for a 4 p.m. match before taking on UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
