MENOMONIE (October 10, 2014) - Five different players scored for UW-Stout, led by
Lauren Kizlik's (So, Hammond) pair of first half goals, as the Blue Devils ran away with a 6-0 win over UW-Superior Friday night at Nelson Field. The victory snapped a five-game winless streak for Stout that dated back to Sept. 20.
Stout jumped out to the lead in the third minute of match, when
Sarah Todey (So, Maple Grove, Minn.) took a pass from
Emma DeRubeis (So, Golden Valley, Minn.) and put it in the back of the net. Five minutes later, Kizlik made it 2-0 off an assist from
Kelly Conn (So, Menasha).
Kizlik would score again in the 21st minute, with DeRubeis picking up her second assist on the night on the goal. The Blue Devils pushed the lead to 4-0 before the break when
Kelli Elmer (Fr, Farmington, Minn.) scored off a pass from
Kelly Kornmann (Fr, Farmington, Minn.) in the 38th minute.
It would be Kornmann and Elmer on Stout's next goal as well, this time with Kornmann putting the ball in the net after a pass from Elmer to give Stout a 5-0 lead. Junior forward
Lindsey Concon (Ashland) would tack on one more for Stout, with an assist from
Christina Block (Jr, Rochester, Minn.).
Blue Devil goalie
Kristi Schurhammer (Jr, Plainview, Minn.) saved five shots to earn her first win of the season. Stout (3-7-3, 2-3-1 WIAC) took 20 shots compared to just six for the Yellowjackets (3-9-1, 0-4-0 WIAC). Of the Blue Devils 20 shots, 14 of them were on goal. Rachel Wallace made eight saves on the night for Superior.
Eight different Blue Devils took at least one shot on goal during the game and four Blue Devils had multiple shots on goal. Kizlik and Concon each had three shots on goal while Elmer and
Haley Wentz (Fr, Naperville, Ill.) each placed two shots on net. Stout also had eight corner kicks to Superior's zero.
The Blue Devils will be off until
Saturday, Oct. 18 when they travel to UW-Whitewater for a 6 p.m. matchup with the Warhawks.
