Annie Lindsay picks up a pair of wins in conference match with Titans

UW-Oshkosh 6, UW-Stout 3

OSHKOSH (September 6, 2013) - Freshman Annie Lindsay (Eau Claire) picked up a pair of as UW-Stout traveled to UW-Oshkosh Friday for a WIAC contest.

Lindsay teamed with Molly Denney (So, Duluth, Minn) to defeat the Titans' Hannah Bostwick and Valerie Langkau, 8-2, then won at No. 2 singles by default.

The Blue Devils (0-3, 0-2 WIAC) started off well in the contest, also grabbing a win at No. 3 doubles, a hard-fought win by Anna Lano (So, Chaska, Minn) and Emma Pedersen (Fr, Eau Claire). The pair defeated Maggie Bolton and Andrea Larson, 8-6.

The Blue Devils went down in the other matches, but not without a fight. Abby Cornelius (Jr, Golden Valley, Minn) lost at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-2; while Emily Grossen (Sr, Monroe) came back at No. 3 single, only to fall, 6-0, 7-5. Denney lost at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2.

Pedersen took her first set at No. 5 singles, 6-4, but fell in the final two, 6-2, 10-6. Cortney Hallahan (Jr, Lester Prairie, Minn) lost at No. 6, 6-6 (7-5), 6-0. Cornelius and Grossen lost at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.

Stout is off until Saturday, Sept. 14, when they host UW-Stevens Point at 10 a.m. and Bethany Lutheran College at 4 p.m. Stevens Point and Bethany Lutheran will play at 1 p.m.
