Blue Devils volleyball team takes pair of wins at Wheaton Invitational

WHEATON, Ill (September 27, 2013) - Big games by Morgan Denny (Jr, Luck) and Laura Reiter (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) helped UW-Stout to a pair of wins at the Wheaton College Thunder Invitational Friday. The Blue Devils defeated Rockford College, 3-2, and Trinity International, 3-1.

Denny put down 22 kills in the five-set win over Rockford, while Reiter notched 25 kills in the four-set win over Trinity.

Karley Wiensch (Jr, Chippewa Falls) finished with 58 assists in the opener and 51 in the last match of the day.

Stout took the first set, then fell behind to Rockford, before winning 25-16, 26-28, 25-27, 25-22, 15-11. The long games did not go Stout's way in either match. The Blue Devils dropped both extra point games to Rockford, and one to Trinity, before coming back for a 25-18, 25-27, 25-21, 25-14 win.

Stout will face North Central College and Carthage College Saturday in the final day of the tournament.
