Stout runs over Northland; down Lumberjills in three sets in 50 minutes

MENOMONIE (September 17, 2013) - It took UW-Stout only 52 minutes to vanquish Northland College as the Blue Devils blew past the Lumberjills in easy fashion in a three-set match Tuesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

Blue Devil coach Jill Jolliff was able to empty her bench early and often as Stout took a 25-8, 25-5, 25-12 decision in near record time.

Laura Rieter (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) and Emily Crew (Jr, Maplewood, Minn) each had five kills, but Molly Brion (So, Cameron) topped both of them with her number of service aces - six. Alyssa Hofacker (So, Appleton) added a service ace to bring Stout's total to seven.

The Blue Devils (9-3) limited the Lumberjills (1-9) to eight total kills on the evening and a negative hitting percentage. In the second set, Stout committed no attack errors and posted a .538 hitting percentage for that set.

The Blue Devils open conference play when they host UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Sept. 21 at noon.
