MENOMONIE (November 22, 2013) - A three goal second period put UW-Stout right back into the game, but it wouldn't be quite enough as the Blue Devils lost a 4-3 decision to St. Scholastica Friday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Stout (2-5-0) quickly fell further behind in the second period. The Saints' (5-0-2) Dave Williams scored less than 50 seconds into the period and Chad Golanowski scored at 4:46 to give Scholastica a 3-0 lead.

But minutes later, playing with one man in the penalty box, Stout sprinted to life. Justin Moody (Fr, Grand Forks, N.D.) took a pass from Jake Useldinger (So, East Grand Forks, N.D.) deep in Stout' zone and sprinted up the middle of the ice to put the puck past goalie Tyler Bruggeman at 5:52.

The Blue Devils ripped off a couple of more goals in the period to knot the score. Tyler Cayemberg (Fr, East Troy) scored his first collegiate goal at 9:48 and Danny Ray (So, Grand Forks, N. D.) tied the score at 17:48 of the second period while on the power play.

The teams traded shots throughout the third period before the Saints' Paul Marcoux slipped the puck past Corey Koop (Fr, Squamish, B.C.) midway through the period.

Stout played the final minute with an extra attacker and had a shot at Bruggeman just before the buzzer sounded, but the sophomore stopped the shot.

Koop finished the night with 30 saves, while Bruggeman had 26. Stout was 1-for-3 on the power play, while St. Scholastica was 0-for-5.

Stout will be at St. Norbert College, Saturday, Nov. 23, then will break for the Thanksgiving weekend. The Blue Devils will open WIAC play Thursday, Dec. 5 when they host UW-River Falls.
