MENOMONIE (January 12, 2013) - UW-Stout dropped the second half of a weekend series with UW-River Falls, Saturday night, a 2-1 loss to the Falcons in a penalty-plagued game at Dunn County Ice Arena.

Stout (8-7-2, 3-7-0 NCHA) amounted 15 penalties for 46 minutes, preventing them from getting in any kind of rhythm as they dropped their second game to River Falls (10-5-2, 3-5-2 NCHA) in as many nights.

Adam Cardwell, who delivered the game-winner last night, started the scoring when he stole the puck right in front of Stout goalie Nick Hopper (Sr, Culver City, Calif.), and promply snuck it past Hopper for a 1-0 lead. Cardwell added a second goal 51 seconds into the second period to stretch the Falcons' lead to two.

Joe Beaudette (Sr, Blaine, Minn.) put back the rebound of a Sam Carr (Sr, Roseau, Minn.) shot to pull Stout within one headed into the third period. Jason Cohen (Sr, Anchorage, Alaska) was also credited with the assist.

While Stout had its fair share of penalties called on them, River Falls was not far behind, serving 18 minutes on nine penalties.

Hopper finished with 25 saves on his 25th birthday, while his counterpart, Scott Lewan, finished with 24 saves.

Stout will be on the road for their next three games before returning home, Saturday, Jan. 26, to host UW-Superior at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
