Poirer earns win at No. 6 singles and has to go the distance to get it

MENOMONIE (September 19, 2012) - Janessa Poirer (Fr, Altoona) picked up UW-Stout's sole win Wednesday and she had to go the distance to get it.

Poirer, facing Katlyn Israel at No. 6 singles, won the first set, 6-3, but then dropped second set, 6-4. The evenly matched pair played past the usual super tie-breaker total with Poirer finally prevailng with a 16-14 win.

The Tommies took all of the other singles matches in straight sets and swept all three doubles matches for an 8-1 win.

The Blue Devils return to action this weekend, Sept. 21-22, at the ITA/Midwest Regional hosted by Gustavus Adolphus. Stout returns to dual action, Saturday, Sept. 29, at UW-Stevens Point.
