DAVENPORT, Iowa (September 15, 2012) -
Kelsey Pedersen (Fr, Lake Elmo, Minn) and
Jadie Hurlburt (Fr, Durand) each picked up a pair of wins as the UW-Stout tennis team lost a couple of close matches at St. Ambrose University.
The Blue Devils lost to Simpson College, 5-4, and to host St. Ambrose, 5-4.
Pedersen got a pair of wins at No. 5 singles, defeating Simpson's Michelle Harman, 6-3, 6-2, and St. Ambrose's Karissa Kalous, 7-5, 6-0. Hurlburt, playing at No. 6, defeated Simpson's Ramie Vokt, 6-2, 6-3, and St. Ambrose's Tasha Olson, 6-4, 6-1.
The No. 3 doubles team of
Elizabeth Burda (Fr, Champlin, Minn) and
Emily Gawronski (Fr, Brooklyn Center, Minn) defeated Simpson College's Michelle Hartman/Ramie Vokt, 9-7.
Abby Cornelius (So, Golden Valley, Minn) got a 6-2, 6-4, win at No. 1 singles against Simpson.
Elizabeth Lehnertz (Jr, Cary, Ill) won at No. 4 singles against St. Ambrose, 6-4, 6-4, and No. 3 singles
Molly Denney (So, Duluth, Minn) picked up a hard-fought 2-6, 6-0, 10-3, win over the Bees.
Stout will host the University of St. Thomas, Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
