Stout rally in second game comes up short

CLERMONT, Fla (March 10, 2012) - Trailing 9-1 in the fifth inning, UW-Stout rallied but could not come back far enough and lost to John Carroll University, 9-6, in the second game of the Blue Devils' annual spring training trip Saturday.

Facing an early end of the game due to the eight-run rule, the Blue Devils (2-6) came back tally five runs in the final three innings.

Courtney Richardson (So, Miltona, Minn) had a pair of runs batted in in the contest, while Sam Hastings (So, Waukesha), Hannah Sweet (So, Elk River, Minn) and Erin Moss (Jr, Munster, Ind) each drove in a run. Jessica Nicol (Jr, Eau Claire) took the loss.

in the team's opener at the National Training Center College Spring Games, the Blue Devils lost, 13-5, to NCAA Division II opponent Minot State of North Dakota.

Hastings had a solo home run and Tara Kimberly (Sr, Baldwin) recorded the loss.

Stout is scheduled to play Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in a doubleheader, Sunday, March 11.
