Split with Macalester on second day at Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn (February 26, 2012) - After getting doubled up in the first game, UW-Stout came back with a vengeance and trounced Macalester College in the second game of a doubleheader at the Rochester Dome Sunday.

The Scots (1-1) took the opening game 8-4, but the Blue Devils (2-2) came back with a five-inning 14-1 decision in the nightcap.

Stout opened the second game with five runs in the first inning, than put the game away with an 8-run third inning. The Blue Devils added one insurance run in the fourth inning.

Alison Gray (Jr, St. Cloud, Minn), Courtney Richardson (So, Miltona, Minn) and Hannah Sweet (So, Elk River, Minn) each drove in a pair of runs and Sam Hastings (So, Waukesha) had one run driven in.

Laura Vanderhoof (So, Mankato, Minn) picked up the win.

In the opener, the game was tied at 2-2 before the Scot exploded in the third inning.

Stout is off until Wednesday, March 7 when they play St. Olaf College at the Rosemount, Minn., Dome.
