St. Scholastica 3, UW-Stout 2 (OT)

DULUTH, Minn (February 18, 2012) - St. Scholastica's Tyler Miller scored one-minute, 19-seconds into overtime to defeat UW-Stout, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Peters Cup tournament Saturday at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The teams tied, 4-4, on Friday night and Scholastica's overtime win gives them the ticket to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament, Saturday, Feb. 25.

In a reversal of scoring from the previous night, Stout (8-17-2) did all of their scoring first, and the Saints (15-7-5) scored three unanswered goals of the win. In the first game of the series, the Saints scored four goals, but Stout came back to tie with four unanswered goals.

The Blue Devils broke into the scoring column first when Garrett Grimstad (Jr, Rochester, Minn) scored at 10:49 of the first period, getting assists from Zach Vierling (Fr, Coon Rapids, Minn) and Sam Carr (Jr, Roseau, Minn).

The Blue Devils doubled the score midway through the second period when Charles Lachance (Jr, Quebec City, Quebec) scored with assists from Jordan Tredinnick (Fr, Onalaska) and Kevin O'Donnell (So, Stoughton).

But the second seeded Saints piced up a power play goal by Brandon Nowakowski late in the second period and tied the score on an Alex Valenti marker with less than four minutes left in regulation.
