MENOMONIE, Wis. (November 9, 2012) - UW-Stout was outshot severely in the final two periods, but the final score was no indication of that.
Tom Lescovich (Sr, Clifton Park, NY) turned away 43 shots on the way to his first win of the season, a 5-2 victory over Augsburg College, Friday night at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
In the second and third periods combined, Augsburg (1-4-0) put 32 shots on goal compared to Stout's (2-2-2) 17. The Blue Devils, however, put four of theirs in the net, including three in the final period.
Charles Lachance (Sr, Quebec City, QC) got the Blue Devils on the board with a power play goal eight minutes into the game, the only goal of the first stanza.
Scott Bell (So, Eagan, Minn.) increased Stout's lead to two when he scored midway through the second period. Augsburg answered five minutes later with a goal, cutting their deficit to one heading into the third period.
Mike Hartviksen (Jr, Thunder Bay, Ont.) scored his first goal of the season five minutes into the period, starting a flurry of three total goals in a minute and 15 seconds. Augsburg's Mack Ohnsted answered Hartviksen's goal with one of his own 40 seconds later, but
Jordan Tredinnick (So, Onalaska) wasted no time increasing the Blue Devils' lead to 4-2, with his second goal of the year.
Sam Carr (Sr, Roseau, Minn.) put the icing on the cake with an empty net goal with just over a minute to go. Hartviksen had an assist in addition to his goal, and
Logan Maly (Jr, Rio) had two assists on the night. Auggie keeper Justin Lochner, had 27 saves before being pulled with 26 seconds remaining.
Stout will host St. Thomas in a rare Tuesday game, Nov. 13, at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
