Blue Devil hockey team holds off Concordia-Moorhead for season's first win

MOORHEAD, Minn (November 3, 2012) - UW-Stout built up a 4-1 lead after two periods and had to hold off a charging Concordia-Moorhead team to pick up their first win of the season, a 4-3 decision Saturday.

The  Cobbers (1-2-1) scored with 11 minutes left in the game, then pulled to within one goal with 2:13 to play.

The Blue Devils (1-2-2) ran off the first four scores of the game, getting goals from four different players who each scored their first goals of the season.

Jason Cohen (Sr, Anchorage, Alaska) opened the scoring at 4:55 of the first period. Stout scored three times in the second. Ricky Doriott (Sr, Blaine, Minn) scored a minute into the period on the power play. Casey Kirley (Jr, Hayward) scored at 7:20 and Micky Knox (So, Warroad, Minn) scored unassisted at 7:29.

Nick Hopper (Sr, Culver City, Calif) recorded the win, notching 32 saves. Two Cobber goalies each had 15 saves.

Stout will make their first home appearance of the season when they host Augsburg College, Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
