Live StatsLive Video

NEXT GAME: The Blue Devils (3-2-2, 0-2-0 NCHA) will play a pair of games against UW-Superior (5-1-0, 3-1-0 NCHA) this weekend.  The Yellowjackets will visit the Dunn County Ice Arena for a 7:30 game, Friday, Nov. 16, one night before the Blue Devils travel to Superior for the second half of the series. Superior was ranked 14th in the latest USCHO.com Division III Men's Poll.

DORM NIGHT: The Nov. 16 game with UW-Superior has been designated as Dorm Night. The UW-Stout residence hall that the most students in attendance at the game gets a free Jimmy John's sample sub sandwich at the end of the night.

WEBCASTS:  All UW-Stout home games are scheduled to be broadcast in a live video stream by Blue Devil Video. Live Stats should also be available for most home games.

2012-13 BLUE DEVILS: Stout is currently on a three-game win streak and has not lost since Oct. 27. For the first time this season, Stout enters a game with a positive scoring margin of +1 (20-19). Through six games, 13 players have scored goals for the Blue Devils and 19 have recorded at least one point. Kevin O'Donnell and Garret Grimstad lead the way with three goals apiece. O'Donnell also leads the squad with six total points. Jordan Tredinnick, Jason Cohen and Carl Bombardier have each scored two goals. Transfer Ricky Doriott joins Grimstad and Tredeinnick as the group of players with five points. Nick Hopper and Tom Lescovich, both seniors, have shared time in the net thus far. In four appearances, Hopper is 2-0-2 and holds a GAA of 2.16 and a save percentage of .929. Lescovich has one less game under his belt and is 1-2-0. He has a GAA of 3.33 and a save percentage of .922. | 2012-13 Statistics

STOUT'S LAST TIME OUT:  This past Tuesday, UW-Stout scored a goal in each period and went on to a 3-1 win over 12th ranked St. Thomas at the Dunn County Ice Arena. The Blue Devils got things going first when Kevin O'Donnell scored at 14:20 of the first period, with assists from Jordan Tredinnick and Joe Beaudette. The Tommies tied the contest when Michael Krieg scored on the power play at 12:08 in the second period. Stout grabbed the lead back on a controversial goal by Jason Cohen. Cohen's shot bounced out of the net, so it took several minutes for the officials to determine if the puck actually crossed the line. Garrett Grimstad put the game away in the third period, scoring at the 13:47 mark. Nick Hopper recorded 32 saves while St. Thomas' Drew Fielding had 30. | Story and Stats

SCOUTING #14 UW-SUPERIOR (5-1-0):  The Yellowjackets enter this weekend ranked 14th in the most recent USCHO Men's Hockey Division III Poll. Superior was dealt their only loss in their season opener against St. Scholastica, but have been perfect ever since. They split the Scholastica series the following night before beating two MIAC opponents, and most recently sweeping UW-Stevens Point in Superior. They are out-scoring their opponents, 20-15, and out-shooting them, 169-113. Four players have at least five points so far this year, led by Pat Dalbec and Jeff Forsythe, who have eight each. Forsythe has done most of his work dishing out the puck (seven assists) while Dalbec is one of four players with a team-high three goals.  | 2012-13 Statistics

SUPERIOR'S LAST TIME OUT: The Yellowjackets hosted UW-Stevens Point last weekend, resulting in two wins over the conference opponent. After a 3-2 overtime win on Friday, they delivered a more comfortable 4-2 victory Saturday night. Both nights, Superior jumped out to 2-0 leads, but could never increase their lead to more than that. On Friday, Stevens Point sent the game into overtime by scoring with less than four minutes remaining in regulation. Then midway through the five minute overtime period, Mike Orosey delivered the game-winner. | Friday's Box Score | Saturday night, Superior took a 3-2 lead into the third period, and Pat Dalbec added an empty net goal to seal the game at 4-2. | Saturday's Box Score

THE SERIES: UW-Superior leads the series, 15-48-4, and is 2-3-0 in the past five. The teams met three times last year, with Superior taking two of the three. Stout's win was a 2-1 overtime victory in Superior.

LAST TIME WHEN THEY MET: In the season rubber match last January, the Blue Devils dropped a 4-2 decision to UW-Superior at the Dunn County Ice Arena. The Yellowjackets outshot Stout, 42-18 for the game and opened up the contest by outshooting the Blue Devils 19-1 in the first stanza. After their first 17 shots were saved, the Yellowjackets finally pierced Stout goalie Nick Hopper's armor in rapid succession in the first period. Derek Stauber scored at 16:03 and just over a minute later, Zach Maxwell got a power play goal to give Superior a 2-0 lead at the break. Superior's Josh Kesler delivered on a penalty shot four minutes into the second period and Justin Faryna gave the 'Jackets a 4-0 lead on a power play at 7:29. The Blue Devil offense started to show some life in the period. Chris Stafne scored at 10:44, and less than two minutes later, Mike Hartviksen found the back of the twine, getting an assist from Jason Cohen and Sam Carr. Hopper finished the night with 38 saves. The Yellowjackets' Drew Strandberg had 16 saves. | Story and Stats

RECORDS AND MILESTONES:  Tom Lescovich is currently 257 saves shy of 2000 for his career.  Only two Stout goalies have ever reached that milestone:  Tad Larson (2480) and Jeff Dotson (2226).  Additionally, at the beginning of the season, Lescovich was third in team history in save percentage (.911). So far this year, he is maintaining a .922 average. All-time leader Mike Stone's career percentage was .916...Sam Carr needs to duplicate his assist total from last season in order to pass Joel Gaulrapp and current head coach Terry Watkins for fourth all time in assists.  He currently has 3 assists, and 14 more would put him at 55 for his career.  Also, Carr needs to match his jersey number, 24, in games played this season in order to hit the 100-game milestone for his career.  The last player to do so was his brother, Robert Carr, along with two others in the 2010-11 season. Coincidentally, Robert played in 27 games his final season, which matched his jersey number as well...Charles Lachance has previously spent 157 minutes watching from the penalty box. Lachance moved into fifth place last weekend and could grab the fourth spot with 33 more. He needs 43 minutes to move into elite company, as the 200-minute club is currently occupied by just three Blue Devils. Lachance was quickly moving towards infamy as he spent 27 minutes in the box in Stout's first five games, but did not pay a visit in Tuesday night's contest.

NOVEMBER: Since the 2007-08 season, November has treated the Blue Devils well. They have won more games in the month of November than any other month and have the best winning percentage in this month as well. They have 24 victories over the past 5 and a half Novembers out of 38 games played, a .632 winning clip. So far this November, they have not lost. October is the closest competitor with a winning percentage of .526. Looming over the horizon is December, which has been Stout's worst month (.437).

THE COACHES:  Terry Watkins (200-220-28) is in his 17th season as the head coach of the Blue Devils' varsity program. Watkins spent eight years coaching the club team (104-102-16) as Stout prepared to return to varsity status in 1997. Watkins was the 2006-07 NCHA coach of the year when Stout finished in a three-way tie for first. Watkins had a Hall of Fame career at Stout as a defenseman. Stout won a WIAC title in 2010-11, and an NCHA title during the 2006-07 season. Dan Stauber is in his 13th season as the Yellowjackets' head coach. His teams have been consistent throughout his tenure, racking up 218 wins in 12 seasons (18 wins per year). He ranks among the leaders in wins and winning percentage among active Division III head coaches. In just his second year at the helm, Stauber led the 'Jackets to the school's second national championships, their first since 1976.

THE CONFERENCES: Stout  and Superior are both members of the seven-team Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). They are also a member of the five team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The WIAC is made up of Stout, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Superior and UW-River Falls. The NCHA includes the five WIAC schools as well as St. Norbert and St. Scholastica.

HOME ICE ADVANTAGE: Since the 2006-07 season, UW-Stout is 51-23-5 at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

2011-12 BLUE DEVILS:  UW-Stout was all over the map last year, as they kept fans guessing which Stout team would show up.  The Blue Devils started the season 4-1, and were 4-2 after three weekends of play.  They went 1-5-1 over their next seven games, however, and went into the Christmas break 5-7-1. Stout showed signs of life later in the year as they split of pair of closely-contested games with then fourth-ranked UW-River Falls, and played a lot of close games down the stretch.  The Blue Devils grabbed just one win in their final eight regular season games before being bounced in the first round of the NCHA playoffs by the College of St. Scholastica. Stout returns seven of their top eight scorers from last season, but lose All-American Branden Gay, who served as the team's leading scorer the past two years. Sam Carr, an All-NCHA selection a year ago, led the team in assists and will look to distribute the puck again in his senior year.  Carr also scored four goals, giving him 21 points on the season, trailing only Gay.  Teammate Mike Hartviksen gathered 20 points on 10 goals and 10 assists.  Four other Blue Devils scored at least 16 points, all of whom will return this season.  Kevin O'Donnell collected 19 points, Jordan Tredinnick, 18, while Garrett Grimstad and Charles Lachance each added 16. Nick Hopper and Tom Lescovich, who will both return for their senior year, split time between the pipes last season.  Each appeared in 15 games, and had very similar stat lines.  Lescovich finished 5-8-0 with a save percentage of .891, while Hopper ended the season 3-9-2, with a .907 save percentage.  |   2011-12 Statistics

STOUT'S RANKED HISTORY: Stout finished the 2008-09 season as the second ranked team in the USCHO.com poll. With the exception of the Nov. 17, 2008, USCHO.com poll, Stout had been ranked in the top 15 since the Nov. 13, 2006, poll. Stout made their first appearance in the poll on Nov. 27, 2000, when they received one vote, then moved up to 10th the following week. The 2008-09 season ending poll matched Stout's previous high mark of second  in the Jan. 29, 2007, poll. Stout opened the 2009-10 season ranked third, their highest-ever season-opening ranking, but fell out of the polls midway through the season and returned to the top 15, Nov. 22, 2010. Stout was in the 2011-12 USCHO.com poll early in the season, dropped out, returned again, but has since dropped out.

UP NEXT: After the Superior series, Stout comes back home to host St. Scholastica, Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1. Friday will be a 7:30 p.m. start, and Saturday's game will begin at 4 p.m.
