Blue Devil tennis tripped up by Falcons

MENOMONIE (September 7, 2011) - UW-Stout won a pair of singles matches that went to three sets, but UW-River Falls took the lions' share of matches as the Falcons defeated the Blue Devils, 6-3, Wednesday.

Emily Grossen (So, Monroe) and Elizabeth Lehnertz (So, Cary, Ill) won at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectivley, in three sets.

Grossen defeated Kasey Noll 6-3, 0-6, 6-4, and Lehnertz defeated Brittany Mohn in a double nailbiter, 6-1, 5-7, 7-5.

Sammie Swanson (So, Eau Claire) lost her No. 5 singles match, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, and Abby Werwie (Jr, Kenosha) lost her No. 1 singles match 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

In doubles play, Grossen combined with Swanson at No. 2 doubles for Stout's only win on that side of the card, 8-4.

The Blue Devils are off until they play at UW-Eau Claire, Thrusday, Sept. 15.
