Eagles take both games from Blue Devils

UW-La Crosse 3, UW-Stout 2 | UW-La Crosse 10, UW-Stout 2 (5 innings)

LA CROSSE (April 27, 2011) - UW-La Crosse took a pair of games from UW-Stout at Pammel Creek Field Wednesday. The Eagles edged the Blue Devils, 3-2, in the opener, then captured the second in five innings, 10-2.

Courtney Richardson (Fr, Miltona, Minn) gave the Blue Devils (15-17, 2-8) a 2-0 lead with a two-run double in the fourth innning of the opener.

But the Eagles (23-12, 9-5) cut the lead in half on a solo home run by Nalalie Stoll in the bottom of the fourth, then tied the score on a home run by Stacey Probst in the fifth inning. The home run ball won the game for the Eagles when Lauren Schaller sent the ball over the fence in the bottom of the sixth.

Stout did come back to put a pair of runners on the base in the seventh inning, but stranded both runners.

Probst recorded the win, while Stout's Tara Kimberly (Jr, Baldwin) absorbed the loss.

La Crosse scored seven runs on seven hits in the bottom of the first inning in the second game. Stoll, Katie Keyes, Schaller, Rachel Weyer and Jenna Ahnen each had run-scoring singles while Probst had a two-run single.

After UW-Stout scored twice in the top of the second on a Hannah Sweet (Fr, Elk River, Minn) solo home run and a Brittany Reiter (Fr, Eau Claire) sacrifice fly, the Eagles tallied three times in the bottom of the inning. Stoll hit a solo home run while Katie Pietrowiak hit an RBI double and Weyer a sacrifice fly.

Stout will be at UW-Superior, Friday, April 29, then will host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, April 30 and UW-Oshkosh, Sunday, May 1.
