MENOMONIE (April 17, 2011)
- Twelfth-ranked Luther College took a pair of games from UW-Stout, Sunday, winning the first 17-1 in five innings and the second, 7-2.

Stout (13-13) actually took the lead in the first game as Courtney Richardson (Fr, Miltona, Minn) hit a lead-off triple, then came home when Alison Gray's (So, St. Cloud, Minn) suicide squeeze brought Richardson home.

But that would be it for the Blue Devils as the Norse (26-4) went on to pound out 23 hits, scoring seven runs in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth and five in the fifth. Stout did not help their cause by committing four errors and had only two hits. Kelsey Kittleson led the Norse's charge, going 4-for-5 with a pari of RBI.

In the nightcap, Luther pitcher Becca Girven kept Stout at the minimum batters for fhe first three innings and ran out to a 4-0 lead with three in the third and one in the fourth.  Stout got to Girven for a pair of hits in the fourth, back-to-back singles by Shanen Stainer (Fr, Menomonie) and Gray, but both were stranded.

Luther added three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 7-0 lead. Stout got one run back in the sixth inning when Gray hit a home run in straight center field, then recorded an RBI in the seventh inning when she drew a bases loaded walk. Stainer and Gray both had two hits in the game.

The Norse got three hits each from Lauran Snyder and Mallory Broderick.

Stout was originally scheduled to play UW-Superior in Superior Sunday, but that game has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 26. Stout will be at Loras College, Thursday, April 21 and at UW-Platteville, Friday, April 22.
