Blue Devils bounce back to split on Day Three

Ithaca College 10, UW-Stout 0 (6 inn) | UW-Stout 3, Transylvania University 1

CLERMONT, Fla (March 14, 2011) - After getting blanked by eighth ranked Ithaca College, UW-Stout came back in the second game on day three to down Transylvania University Monday at the National Training Center Spring Games.

Ithaca blanked Stout 10-0 in six innings, but the Blue Devils (7-5) came back for a 3-1 win over Transylvania.

Courtney Richardson (Fr, Miltona, Minn) opened the game with a double, then stole third base before coming home on a wild pitch to give Stout a 1-0 lead. Transylvania knotted the score with a lead-off solo home run in the second inning.

Stout got what would prove to be the game-winning run in the fourth when Erika Wolf (Fr, Elmwood) doubled, then came home on Bri Conrad's (Jr, South St. Paul, Minn) double to centerfield. Stout tacked on another run in the fifth inning when Alison Gray (So, St. Cloud, Minn)  hit a solo home run.

Conrad recorded the win and Brittany Reiter (Fr, Eau Claire) came on to pitch one inning and get the save.

Stout is off until Wednesday, March 16 when they will play SUNY-Plattsburgh and Mount Ida College.
