UW-Stout 2, UW-Eau Claire 0
EAU CLAIRE (February 3, 2011) - UW-Stout recorded their second consecutive shut out when they blanked UW-Eau Claire, 2-0, Thursday at Hobbs Ice Arena.
Following a scoreless first period, Stout got on the board 13 minutes into the second period when
Justin Giles (So, Jenks, Okla.) scored his second goal of the season, getting assists from
Casey Kirley (Fr, Hayward) and
Jason Cohen (So, Anchorage, Alaska).
Scoring was hard to come by on the evening, but Stout closed out the scoring when
Joe Beaudette (So, Blaine, Minn) scored his first goal of the season, this one an empty net goal in the final 30 seconds of the game.
Alex Breeden (Jr, Ft. Collins, Colo) assisted.
The Blugolds pushed the puck hard, putting 48 shots on net, 16 in each period, but
Tom Lescovich (So, Clifton Park, NY) turned away all of the shots to record his fourth shutout of the season. Stout put 27 shots on net.
Stout will be at UW-River Falls, Friday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. Stout will host UW-Stevens Point, Friday, Feb. 11, then will close out the regular season by hosting St. Norbert, Saturday, Feb. 12 at 4 p.m.
