Auggies down Stout 3-2 in first road trip

Box Score Augsburg College 3, UW-Stout 2

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (November 11, 2011) - After six games at home to open the season, UW-Stout took to the road for the first time, traveling to Augsburg College Friday, where the Auggies took a 3-2 win.

Stout (4-3-0) never led in this game where all of the goals came in the first period. The Auggies (2-3-0) struck first when Landon Olson scored at 4:22 in the first, but Stout went on the power play and Branden Gay (Sr, Calgary, Alberta) racked up his fifth goal of the season at the 8:45 mark.

But Augsburg answered back three mintues later on Jamison Wick's first of two goals in the game.

It didn't take long for Stout to answer Wick's goal when Mike Hartviksen (So, Thunder Bay, Ont) scored two minutes later.

The Auggies took advantage of the power play to close out the period when Wick scored only 11 seconds before the break.

Both goalies were perfect the rest of the way, as Stout's Tom Lescovich (Jr, Clifton Park, NY) turned away 26 shots and the Auggies' Justin Lochner kicked out 33. Stout attacked Lochner hard in the final period, outshooting Augsburg, 11-5 in the stanza.

Both Gay and Hartviksen each had a goal and an assist in the game.

Stout returns to NCHA and WIAC play when they travel to UW-Superior, Nov. 18-19.
