Stout flies past Gustavus Adolphus, 6-1

MENOMONIE (January 8, 2011) - UW-Stout hammered away at Gustavus Adolphus throughout the first and second periods and went on to a 6-1 win Saturday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

David Larson (Sr, Warroad, Minn) opened the scoring six minutes into the game, then Robb Haider (Fr, Anchorage, Alaska) scored two consecutive goals, one with four seconds left in the first and one two minutes into the second.

Stout (10-5-0) kept up the second period assault with a goal by Charles Lachance (So, Quebec City, Quebec) at the five minute mark and Justin Giles (So, Jenks, Okla) added another goal at the 14 minute mark to give Stout a 5-0 lead.

Gustavus (9-5-1) got their only goal of the game with 21 seconds remaining in the second period.

Stout added a final goal 37 seconds into the third period when Jason Cohen (So, Anchorage, Alaska) scored.

Tom Lescovich (So, Clifton Park, NY) recorded 29 saves, while the Gusties' Tyler Venne had 32 saves.

Stout will host UW-River Falls, Monday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
