Mengelkoch assists in New Orleans project

NEW ORLEANS, La. (January 3, 2011) - UW-Stout tight end Patrick Mengelkoch took part in a community volunteer project in New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward on Jan. 3.

Mengelkoch, who this season was named to the 2010 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, joined his fellow Good Works team members, Allstate employees and volunteers from lowernine.org to help restore and revitalize the neighborhood still trying to rebuild from the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina five years ago.

Mengelkoch and the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team are in New Orleans, where they will be formally honored for their community efforts at halftime of the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4. This is the 19th year of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, a national award honoring 22 players from all levels of college football who stand out for their volunteer and charitable efforts.
