Stout drops overtime contest to St. Olaf

ROSEMOUNT, Minn (January 22, 2011)
- UW-Stout built up a 4-2 lead, but couldn't hold the lead and lost, 5-4, in overtime to St. Olaf College, Saturday at the Rosemount Ice Arena.

After St. Olaf scored three minutes into the game, Stout took the lead late in the period to head into the break with a 2-1 lead. #Charles Lachance (So, Quebec City, Quebec) scored in the 14th minute and Matt Morin# (So, Brooklyn Park, Minn) scored in the final minute of the period.

Lachance scored his second goal of the game, finding the back of the 1-minute, 13-seconds into the second period. But the Oles pulled back within one goal, 3-2, when Jeff Warren scored three minutes later.

Branden Gay (Sr, Calgary, Alberta) gave the Blue Devils a two goal margin 23 seconds later.

St. Olaf tied the score within four minutes, getting a goal by Kevin Harris at the six minute mark and another goal by Derek Grogan in the eighth minute.

The teams played scoreless hockey through the remainder of regulation and the Oles won the contest 1-minute, 46 seconds into overtime on a goal by Warren.

The Blue Devils used a different goalie in each of the period. Mike Morgan (Jr, Northfield, Minn) worked the first period, allowing one goal and stopping nine shots. Nick Hopper (So, Culver City, Calif) allowed three goals in the second period and recorded six saves. Tom Lescovich (So, Clifton Park, NY) took the loss by allowing the overtime goal. Lescovich recorded six saves. NIck Krauss notched 34 saves to get the win for the Oles.

The Blue Devils return to action Friday, Jan. 28 when they travel to St. Scholastica, then head over to UW-Superior, Saturday, Jan. 29.
