Tennis team edged by Stevens Point

UW-Stevens Point 5, UW-Stout 4

STEVENS POINT (September 18, 2010) - Abby Werwie (So, Kenosha) was UW-Stout's only double winner as the Blue Devils were edged by UW-Stevens Point, 5-4, in a conference contest Saturday.

Werwie defeated Taylor Weuve, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, and teamed with Allie Hinman (Sr, Lino Lakes, Minn) to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-5.

Hinman suffered her first lost at No. 1 singles, losing to Rachel Brown, 7-5, 6-4.

Samantha Kletscher (Fr, Brainerd, Minn) won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Katie Sorensen (So, Neenah) won at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4.

Stout will compete at the ITA Midwest Regionals, Sept. 24-26, at Gustavus Adolphus College.
