UW-Oshkosh 6, UW-Stout 5 | UW-Oshkosh 4, UW-Stout 3

OSHKOSH (May 2, 2010) - UW-Stout lost a pair of heartbreakers in the WIAC finale at UW-Oshkosh Sunday. The Titans captured a 6-5 first game win, then came back to snag a second one-run win, 4-3.

Leading 5-3 heading into the sixth inning of the first game, the Titans' Aimee Heinzelman socked a two-run home run to tie the game in the sixth. In the seventh inning, Heinzelman drew a two-out, bases loaded walk to win the game in the bottom of the seventh.

The Titans (21-19, 9-7) scored single runs in the first and second innings, but Stout (14-24, 3-13) came back with a three-run third inning as Kelly Conway (Jr, La Crescent, Minn) laced a two-run double. Jenna Johnson (Sr, Menomonie) followed that up by driving Conway home with a single to left field.

Alison Gray (Fr, St. Cloud, Minn) was 3-for-3, while Jamie Olson (Fr, Eau Claire) and Kat Nelson (So, Chippewa Falls) each had two hits.

In the second game, Stout took a lead as Sam Sarna (So, Buffalo, Minn) led off the third inning with a single and eventually scored on an outfield error. The Blue Devils added two runs in the fourth inning when Olson smacked a two-run single.

The Titans took the game and the series sweep with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sydnee Wyss drove in a run and Whitney Tornow got the game-winner with a bases-loaded, three-run double to right field.

Stout will close out the regular season, Tuesday, May 4 when they host Hamline University at 4 p.m.
