CLERMONT, Fla. (March 25, 2010) - UW-Stout scored four runs in the fourth inning and went on to blank the Massachusets Institute of Technology, 4-0, Wednesday at the National Training Center College Spring Games Wednesday.

Alison Gray (Fr, St. Cloud, Minn) led off the fourth inning with a triple, then came home on a single by Jenna Johnson (Sr, Menomonie). Olivia Schroeder (Fr, Eau Claire) and Kat Nelson (So, Chippewa Falls) each drove in a run. Sam Jones (Fr, Amery) came home on a passed ball.

Kristy Hoffman (Sr, Circle Pines, Minn) picked up her second shutout of the season by throwing a two-hitter and striking out four. MIT threatened in the seventh inning, but Hoffman stranded runners at second and third.

The win was also coach Chris Stainer's 200th overall career win.

It didn't go so well for the Blue Devils (7-9) in the second game, as Stout dropped a 10-0 five inning decision to Eastern Connecticut by stranding eight runners. Eastern Connecticut scored three runs in the first inning and seven in the fourth.

Stout will close out the spring break trip when they play Morrisville State and the University of Southern Maine.
