Blue Devils stay hot, sweep Pointers in overtime

Kuehl gets first goal of season with game winner

UW-Stout 5, UW-Stevens Point 4

STEVENS POINT (November 20, 2010) - Bobby Kuehl (Sr, St. Paul, Minn) scored his first goal of the year and Kuehl made it a big one as he scored 23 seconds into overtime to lift UW-Stout to a come-from-behind 5-4 win at UW-Stevens Point's K. B. Willett Arena Saturday.

Danny Ryan (Sr, Niles, Ill) tied the score late in the third period on an unassisted power play goal and send the game into overtime.

Stout wasted no time in the overtime period as Kuehl took assists from Dan Cecka (Fr, Woodbury, MInn) and David Larson (Sr, Warroad, Minn).

The Blue Devils (7-3-0, 4-2-0 NCHA, 2-0-0 WIAC) came back from a 3-1 deficit in the third period to get back into the game. Joel Whited (Jr, Indianapolis, Ind) scored five minutes into the third period, then, following a goal by the Pointers' Luke Nesper, Whited scored again to make it 4-3 with nine minutes left in regulation.

The Pointers (4-5-0, 2-4-0 NCHA, 0-2-0 WIAC) opened the game like they were easily going to end Stout winning streak at five games when they scored two first period goals within 30 seconds of each other. Harrison Niemann scored at 18:20 of the first period and Max Bobrow scored at 18:49 to give Point a 2-0 lead.

Stout's Chris Stafne (Fr, Duluth, Minn) sliced the lead in half with a goal midway through the second period for the stanza's only goal.

Tom Lescovich (So, Clifton Park, NY) had 27 saves for Stout, while the Pointers' Nick Graves had 25 saves.

Stout is off until Friday, Dec. 3 when they host UW-Eau Claire at 7:30 p.m.
