MENOMONIE (November 13, 2010) - UW-Stout scored three goals in the first period and went on to a 4-1 win and take a weekend sweep over St. Scholastica Saturday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
The game opened very similar to the night before when Stout scored within the first two minutes of the game.
Robert Carr (Sr, Roseau, Minn) scored at 1:35 in the first period.
The Saints (2-4-0, 0-4-0 NCHA) tied the score with three minutes left in the period on a power play goal by Brett Corcoran. Stout (5-3-0, 2-2-0 NCHA) knotted the score less than a minute later when
Casey Kirley (Fr, Hayward) scored. The Blue Devils took a 3-1 lead on a power play goal by Kevin O'Donnell (Fr, Stoughton) at the 19:27 mark of the first period.
Following a scoreless second period, Stout got the final goal of the game when
Jason Cohen (So, Anchorage, Alaska) scored his first UW-Stout goal eight minutes into the third period.
#om Lescovich (So, Clifton Park, NY) had 25 saves and the Saints' Patrick Sullivan had 19 saves.
Stout will be at UW-Stevens Point, Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Nov. 20.
