OSHKOSH (September 19, 2009) - UW-Stout lost twice by 7-2 scores Saturday in Oshkosh, getting between by UW-Oshkosh, in the afternoon, then losing to Lawrence University later in the evening.
Against the Titans,
Allie Hinman (Jr, Lino Lakes, Minn) won handily at No. 1 singles, defeating Emily Bostwick, 6-0, 6-2. Hinman and
Abby Werwie (Fr, Kenosha) combined to snag an 8-4 win over Bostwick and Liz Leffler at No. 1 doubles.
Erin James (Fr, Menomonie) lost at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-3, and
Katie Sorensen (Fr, Neenah) lost at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
Against Lawrence in the 7 p.m. match, James was the Blue Devils' only singles winner, defeating Katie Sculd, 7-5, 2-6, 10-7. At doubles,
Stephanie Schick (So, Altoona) and Callie Mikolajczak (Fr, Caledonia) combined for Stout's lone winning doubles team, taking an 8-4 decision at No. 3 doubles.
James and Sorensen were edged at No. 2 doubles in a tie-breaker, losing 9-8 (8-6).
Stout will host their first home meet of the season Wednesday, Sept. 23 when UW-River Falls comes to town for a 3:30 p.m. meeting. Several members of the team will also participate in the ITA Midwest Regionals, Sept. 25-27, at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
