UW-Stout 5, Lake Forest 1
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (February 6, 2009) - UW-Stout lived large on the power play, scoring four power play goals to roll past Lake Forest, 5-1, Friday.
Paul Henderson (Jr, Menomonie) scored the first two goals of the game, both with the one man advantage. Henderson opened the scoring midway through the first period, then doubled the score with a power play goal five minutes into the second period.Matt Morin (Fr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) assisted on both goals and Andy Sternberg (Jr, Duluth, Minn) also assisted on the second.
The Foresters (5-17-1, 0-12-0) cut the lead in half only 30 second later when Adam Love scored.
Derrick Bohn (Jr, Stillwater, Minn) scored Stout's only even strength goal with seven minutes remaining in the second period as Stout (16-5-2, 8-2-2) rolled off the final three goals of the contest.
David Larson (So, Warroad, Minn) and Jack Wolgemuth (Sr, Anchorage, Alaska) each added a power play goal in the final stanza. Stout was 4-of-8 on the power play.
Morin assisted on Larson's goal to finish with three assists. Henderson also assisted on Larson's goal.
The win moved the Blue Devils into second place past St. Scholastica, which lost 4-1 to UW-Stevens Point tonight. Stout is two points behind UW-Superior, which defeated UW-Eau Claire, 6-3.
Stout will be at St. Norbert College, Saturday, Feb. 7, then will wrap up the regular season by hosting UW-River Falls, Friday, Feb. 13.
