RIVER FALLS (December 12, 2009)
- Joel Whited (So, Indianapolis, Ind) scored two goals, including the game winner in a wild UW-Stout 6-5 win at UW-River Falls Saturday at Hunt Arena.

The Blue Devils (6-5-3, 4-3-2) held an early lead, but needed to score three goals in the third period to notch the win and get the weekend sweep over the Falcons(7-5-1, 3-4-1). Stout had won Friday, 6-1.

Coming into the third period, the game was tied at 3-3, but the Falcons' Justin Brossmann scored his second consecutive goal when he scored only 1:42 into the third stanza. Sam Carr (Fr, Roseau, Minn) and Derek Hanson (Sr, Bemidji, Minn) scored back-to-back goals to put Stout ahead, 5-4.

But the Falcons tied the score less than 30 seconds after Hanson's goal.

But Whited wasted no time getting the game winning goal, taking a pass from Paul Henderson (Sr, Menomonie) only 14 seconds later.

Stout took a 2-0 lead when Joel Gaulrapp (Sr, Owatonna, Minn) scored in the first period and Scott Motz (Sr, Lake Elmo, Minn) scored early in the second period. But the Falcons tied the score with two second period goals,  Whited put Stout ahead within a minute after the Falcons tied the score, and Brossmann scored his first goal of the night with six minutes left in the second period for the 3-3 tie.

Stout outshot River Falls, 46-32.
