UW-Stout 1, St. Scholastica 1, ot
DULUTH, Minn (November 14, 2009) - For the second straight night, UW-Stout and St. Scholastica played to a tie, this time a 1-1 decision at Mars Lakeview Arena Saturday night.
The Saints (3-1-2, 2-0-2 NCHA) got on the board first only seconds after Stout (2-2-2, 2-0-2 NCHA) took their third penalty of the first period. St. Scholastica's Jeff Gagnon scored with only eight ticks left on the first period clock just seven seconds after Stout drew a penalty for a Saints' power play goal.
The Blue Devils' reciprocated midway through the second period with the same type of experience.
Sam Carr (Fr, Roseau, Minn) scored his first collegiate goal on the power play only six seconds after St. Scholastica drew a penalty, with the time of goal at 11:01.
Andy Sternberg (Sr, Duluth, Minn) assisted on the play. Neither team could score after that.
Stout was 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Saints were 1-for-7. Shots were dead-even as both teams put 39 shots on net with Stout goaltender
Tom Lescovich (Fr, Clifton Park, NY) and Saints goalie Zach Kleiman each stopping 38 shots.
The teams played to a 4-4 draw on Friday and six of the eight goals scored were power play goals.
Stout will host UW-Stevens Point, Friday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. and again Saturday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m.
