Stout cruises by St. Mary's, 6-1

MENOMONIE  (January 19, 2009) - Derek Hanson (Jr, Bemidji, Minn) scored two power play goals and an assist, Nick Klaren (Sr, North St. Paul, Minn) had three assists and Stout's penalty kill held St. Mary's to only nine shots on goal during six power play opportunities as the Blue Devils defeated the Cardinals, 6-1, Monday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

The Blue Devils (13-5-0) started the scoring when Matt Morin (Fr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) hit paydirt at 7:39 of the first. Joel Gaulrapp (Jr, Owatonna, Minn) scored a minute later on the first of four power play goals.

Stout scored three goals in the second period. Hanson scored at 10:14 in the second, a power play goal, followed by Jack Wolgemuth (Sr, Anchorage, Alaska) less than a minute later. Hanson got his second power play goal of the period with four minutes remaining.

St. Mary's (2-12-1) got on the board midway through the goal when Tommy Healy scored. Stout finished up the scoring with seven minutes left on a power play goal by Paul Henderson (Jr, Menomonie). 

Stout's Matt Koenig (Sr, Lakeland, Minn) finished with 17 saves, and Jesse Pischlar (So, Sudbury, Ont) had seven saves. Stout outshot St. Mary's, 45-25.
