MENOMONIE
- Jamestown College came into Menomonie with an offense that racked up nearly 600 yards last week, but UW-Stout contained the Jimmies and rolled to a 37-13 win over the NAIA squad.

Stout quarterback Kyle Provos (Jr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) threw for three touchdowns and ran for another.

While Provos shined by completing 12-of-19 passes for 101 yards, the Blue Devils ran the ball 52 times for 288 yards, averaging over five yards per carry. On the defensive side of the ball, Stout held the Jimmies to just 287 total yards.

Blue Devil kicker Kyle Martin (Jr, Hubertus) put the first points on the board with 8:42 remaining in the first quarter with his first of three field goals on the day. After two consecutive defensive stops, Stout was able to add to their lead when Provos scampered up the middle for a 34 yard touchdown run with two and a half minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The Blue Devils quickly got the ball back on a fumble recovery by Justin Rindt (Jr, Grafton), taking possession on their own 37 yard line. Their offense then marched down the field, going 63 yards on 10 plays, including a 21-yard touchdown pass from Provos to Patrick Mengelkoch (So, Champlin, Minn.), increasing their lead to 17-0.

Stout's defensive unit then promptly forced a three and out and handed their surging offense the ball on their own 46 yard line. Provos hooked up with Eric Cieslak (Jr, Rochester, Minn.) for a first down, then hit Cieslak three plays later in the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown connection, giving the Blue Devils a commanding 24-0 lead with just over six minutes remaining in the first half.

The teams exchanged punts until for the next six minutes, and Stout took a 24-0 lead into the locker rooms.

The Jimmies came out in the second half with a new look as they drove down the field, going 57 yards in three minutes, capping off the drive with a 20-yard touchdown reception by Josh Ewalt from Josh Kittell. Jamestown failed on a fake extra point attempt, leaving them with a 24-6 deficit.

On the ensuing kickoff, Calvin White (So, Benton Harbor, Mich.) recorded a 41-yard return, bringing the ball back to the Jimmies' 47 yard line. Stout's leading rusher for the day, Trevor Fiege (Fr, Menomonie), started the drive off with a 20-yard run, setting up a 38-yard Martin field goal with 8:58 remaining in the third quarter.

Jamestown opened their next drive with a 13-yard run, but was forced to punt, pinning the Blue Devils offense on their own 2 yard line. After a Stout three and out, the Jimmies started their drive in Blue Devil territory. A Tyler Spanton 18-yard reception gave Jamestown a first and goal on the nine. Stout held them for three plays, but committed a penalty on the fourth, giving the Jimmies of fresh set of downs, which they took advantage of with a Kittell to Spanton 4-yard touchdown hookup.

Fiege opened up the ensuing drive with his longest run of the day, a 42-yard run into the red zone, which also took a 27-13 lead into the final quarter. The Blue Devils took their time getting into the end zone, scoring on a Provos pass to John Sherman (So, Cokato, Minn.) from four yards out.

The Blue Devils' rock solid defense then shut down the Jimmies offense again when Jake Pomputis (Sr, Owen) took a Kittell pass 52 yards the other way, setting up Martin's third field goal with 6:36 remaining in the game, giving Stout a virtually insurmountable 24-point lead.

Ryan Pearcy (Fr, Plover) put an end to any Jamestown comeback attempt when he intercepted another Kittell pass with five minutes remaining, which the offense milked off the clock on their ensuing drive.

Fiege ended the game with 104 yards on 10 carries, while Provos and Ron Fricke (Jr, Albertville, Minn.) each carried the ball eight times for 40 and 33 yards, respectively.

No Jamestown rusher exceeded 15 yards on the ground, as the Jimmies ran for 31 yards on 21 carries.
